Challenge has ended--but the fun hasn't!

Hey guys!! Mag here.

I know things have been super-duper quiet around here, and for that I apologize. (I can't speak for Ella, only myself, but I'm pretty sure she's in the same boat) Things have been crazy for me lately and I've been really busy with other stuff, but I love seeing all you guys express your love for the series, because it's awesome!

Since it's now August and Nevermore has been released (Though I still haven't gotten it, DARN IT!) the Maximum Ride Reading Challenge is officially OVER. Which is sad, but not heartbreaking, because this site will stay up, and you guys can come hang out and chat about the books and play the games and take the quizzes whenever you like! In fact, I'll set up a chat room for you guys to use (really just a post you can comment on and discuss :D EDIT-I actually made it a tab at the top of the page--check it out and comment away!) and maybe get some more games, quizzes and polls up in the future. (If you'd like to write up a quiz or make a game, email it to me at mag.geekchic@yahoo.com and I'll post it here, if you'd like!!)

Anyway, I just want to thank all of you so much for checking out the site and getting excited about the books with us! This has been a great Challenge and it's great to meet all of you :D

FLY WITH THE FLOCK (Interactive Game)

Just as I promised, IT IS DONE!!

We now have an interactive Max-Ride themed GAME!

INSTRUCTIONS:
-Click the GREEN FLAG to begin the game
-Enter your name when prompted
-Select your CHARACTER (Click on Max, Fang, Iggy, Gazzy, Nudge, or Angel!)
-Your CHARACTER will now follow your mouse! Move your CHARACTER around the screen by moving your mouse, and avoid the ERASERS!
-If your CHARACTER touches an ERASER, the game will end.

TIPS:
-If the game doesn't show up for you, try right-clicking on it and selecting "run this plug-in"
-The game begins immediately after you select your CHARACTER, so it would probably be a good idea to move your mouse to the left side of the screen to avoid getting hit before you even begin.
-The longer you survive, the more ERASERS show up, and the faster and more erratic they get, making it harder to evade them.
-If you go too far off screen, the game sometimes freaks out and ends, so I would suggest staying generally within the barriers.
-The game will automatically start playing music, so if you're in a place where there should not be music, I'd recommend headphones or mute. The RED CIRCLE will make it shut up quickly, but it also stops the game.

Make note of your score when your game ends, and leave it in a comment [PLEASE LEAVE SCORE COMMENTS FOR THE GAME ON THE "FUN STUFF" PAGE!] We'll create a scoreboard and update it as you guys play!

Let me know if there's anything I need to add the instructions, and most of all, HAVE FUN!!!!

[Special and absolutely HUGE thanks to my brother CJ, who helped me create this game and without whom it would be absolutely uncool and likely unfinished.]

Maximum Ride Personality Quiz: Which Flock Member Are You?

Yes, I know I'm about....a month late on this but the first of the personality quizzes (or any of the quizzes, really) is FINALLY here. I'm sorry it took, you know, a month to make! I promise, it won't happen again. In fact, I'm going to start hoarding up on quizzes so I can just post them whenever necessary.

The quiz itself is a series of six questions, with six possible answers (Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy, and Angel). And it's right over here --> CLICK ME.

The next quiz will be a trivia on the first book, THE ANGEL EXPERIMENT. There will also be a Maximum Ride game available to play which Mag is diligently working on at the moment. I, on the other hand, will be diligently working on the future quizzes, and catching up on the reading.

Happy reading to you!

Link Your Month 3 Reviews!

Hey, you guys! We've reached month 3, which means we're down to one book a month. How are we doing this month? Has anyone started reading MAX yet? (It's totally okay if you haven't, I'm going to start today or tomorrow!)

This is the place where you can link back to your reviews for the book scheduled for this month, MAX.

Some important things to remember:

-This is the Link Post for MAX. While it's totally okay if you've already read past that, PLEASE wait to link your reviews for those books until the proper month. I repeat: This post is for MAX ONLY. (If you still need to link your Angel Experiment and School's Out reviews, please do so HERE. If you need to link your School's Out--Forever and Saving the World reviews, that's HERE)

-You don't need to post a review to be part of the Challenge, though it is a big part of the fun! The only thing you have to do is read some of the books, because that's what this Challenge is about. If you don't have a blog, Goodreads account, or other forum with which to post your review or thoughts, PLEASE do not leave your review in the comments. Instead, you can email it to me at mag.geekchic@yahoo.com and I'll be more than happy to post it here for you! Just send me an email with the Subject line something like, "My MRRC review for Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports"

-Anons are more than welcome in this Challenge! We understand that not everyone has an account that's compatible with a blog like this, or would simply prefer to remain anonymous. We ask, however, that when you leave an anonymous comment you sign off with a name, nickname, or username, so that we can tell any Anons apart. (For example, end a comment with "~Alex" or "~Snickerdoodle351")

-In your reviews and comments, please be careful to mark Spoilers! We don't want to ruin the books for others! In discussions, please don't post ANY spoilers in the non-spoiler chats; For example, don't give away any MAX spoilers in a The Final Warning discussion, EVEN if you mark them with a spoiler tag. Please just wait until the MAX, FANG, or ANGEL discussion, or an all-spoilers discussion.

-I think that's everything, so, without further ado, you can link your reviews for Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports and The Final Warning below!

Because of the issues with the Linky lists (detailed on the SIGN UP NOW page), I'm going to have to ask you guys to leave the link to your review in the comments. Once you have, I'll be glad to add it into the post so others can see it. Thank you so much for bearing with us!!

Happy Reading to you all!

April MRRC Discussion Post!

All right, so the March discussion post didn't exactly go as well as we thought it would (0 comments), so this month we're going to initiate the comments and discussion and, you know, you guys should all comment! And discuss! And share your opinions! Honestly, this reading challenge is much more fun when people participate. Participation is key.

But without further ado, let me introduce you April's discussion post! This post is for the books Saving the World--And Other Extreme Sports and The Final Warning. The rules are still the same:

1) You MAY NOT discuss any of the other books here.
2) You MAY NOT post the full summary of either of the books. However, be warned: there will be possible spoilers about in the discussions (if people participate!)
3) Please be kind and courteous to all of the discussion members and comments :]

This month we will also be hosting the quizzes and trivia as promised. So stay tuned for that as well...and keep on reading!

Some Updates!! GAMES! TRIVIA! AWESOMENESS!

Hey guys! How are you doing? I hope you're enjoying the Challenge so far!

So, if you recall, when we started talking about the Challenge, we promised lots of fun stuff! And that stuff is coming, I promise! We've got trivia, quizzes, polls and games coming your way!! You may have noticed a new tab at the top of the screen "FUN STUFF". There's nothing in there now, but keep checking back because it's going to be AWESOME!!

Plus, since Month Two is underway, you can now link your reviews for Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports and The Final Warning! Scroll down below the post (you'll have to go to the homepage if you're looking at this post individually!) and you'll see the APRIL DISCUSSION post and the LINK YOUR MONTH TWO REVIEWS post. Feel free to comment on the discussion post, but please don't post anything that spoils books 5-7! Books 1-4, however, are fair game so avoid the discussions if you haven't read them!!

Keep checking back here often, and HAPPY READING!

Ready...Set...READ!

Hey guys! Guess what today is.

March the first.

Also known as the Day in Which the Max Ride Reading Challenge Shall Start.

Once again, remember that in the month of March, all you need to read is The Angel Experiment and School's Out--Forever. You may read ahead, but you can only post discussions on THOSE two books. The discussions posts shall be opened shortly.

You may find the full schedule on THE DETAILS page of this blog ^-^

That's it, really! That's all we need to remind you. Happy reading!

Mini Post: The MANGA Version.

Everyone excited? You should be because the Max Ride Reading Challenge is about to start in just six days. Six days! There is still time to obtain a copy of The Angel Experiment and do all the other prepping for the challenge, but remember that the book is several hundred pages long and might take some time to read (even though, I assure you, the book itself is very fast paced).

In the month of March, there will be two books to read and discuss for the challenge: The Angel Experiment and School's Out--Forever (the entire schedule can be found by clicking on THE DETAILS tab on the top of the page). If you're not like me and you can read several books at the same time and manage to get through all of them, then go right ahead and do what you need to do. But if you ARE like me and can be a pretty slow reader--or you have just been extremely busy lately--I wish you and myself good luck.

Now moving on to the good stuff.

As an added bonus (AKA for the pure fun of it), you can read and discuss the manga books of the Maximum Ride series as well. There won't be a set schedule for these books and it's completely optional, but there will still be a discussion post set up for them. Read them as quickly or as slowly as you want, as long as you read them before the end of the challenge.

That's it, basically!

Welcome, Welcome!

Hey guys! First off, welcome to the Max Ride Reading Challenge blog! We're currently two weeks from the start of the challenge, so remember: advertise advertise advertise, and be thinking about ways to get The Angel Experiment in your hands!

Among other things...hello there! I'm Ella from Musings in Ink. I'm the Other Host of this lovely little challenge, and I welcome everyone here. Remember to follow this blog to sign up for the challenge and grab one of the many buttons we have :]

Hm...what else? Musings in Ink is actually a little writing blog I run, in which I post about my WIP progress, book reviews, writing advice, and a bunch more "awesome sauce". I actually have not read all of the current Maximum Ride books yet; I'm missing ANGEL, which, I know, is very sad. Mag, however, has read every single one so if anyone ever has this random moment to talk about ANGEL with one of us--before the Month of Reading ANGEL--talk about it with Mag (yes, Mag, I'm pushing the burden onto you :D).

If anyone wants to contact me about the contest or for whatever other reason, my email is writingella(@)hotmail(dot)com.

That's it to this mini-intro post, I suppose. And remember: just two more weeks guys!

The Maximum Ride Reading Challenge

Hey everybody! I'm Mag from Geek Chic, and I'm one of the two hosts of the Max Ride Reading Challenge. This is going to be SUPER AWESOME, you guys, for real.

This Challenge is about fun and enjoying the books, so it's really easy to be a part of. You can be reading these books for the first time, or rereading them for the second or fifth or seventeenth time. It doesn't matter :). Also, you don't have to read ALL the books if you don't want to, or follow the schedule. It's all about reading the books, enjoying the books, and talking about the books. Basically, think of the Soul Screamers Reading Challenge being hosted by Fiktshun

You also don't have to review the books, but you can if you want to! Once you've posted it (whether on your blog, Goodreads, Facebook, or wherever) you can link to it here on this blog so other people can see it. If you don't have a place to post your review, you can send it to me at mag.geekchic@yahoo.com and I'll post it here for you.

Also, throughout the challenge, Ella and I will be posting fun games, quizzes, polls, and discussions, so check back every once in a while for those!

The Challenge will start on March 1st and run through August--and the release of Nevermore, the final Maximum Ride novel. The entire schedule can be seen below:

March: The Angel Experiment/School's Out--Forever

April: Saving the world and Other Extreme Sports/The Final Warning

May: MAX

June: FANG

July: ANGEL

August: NEVERMORE
